Saffron & Spice is partnering with English Newsom Cellars to feature delicious food and wine pairings. 


Saffron & Spice is an authentic Indian experience in the heart of West Texas. 


Saffron & Spice is owned and operated by Chef Pooja and Vijay Hegde. Growing up in the metropolitan city of Mumbai they were exposed to the multi-cultural cuisines from different regions of India. They bring these varied experiences and diverse expertise to Lubbock. The menus reflect the Indian culinary repertoire and the menagerie of flavors from different parts of India. In addition, they also showcase Indian Fusion creations that are a perfect blend of East meets West. Their supply sources are so important that they travel to the origin of where the food is produced.


They believe that food nourishes the body and soul. The marvelous food on your plate has a story to tell. It has a journey. It leaves a footprint. It leaves a legacy.

A bold Indian take on the classic Mexican street corn — fire-roasted corn brushed with tandoori-spiced mayo, charred to perfection, and finished with a sprinkle of chaat masala, lime, and crumbled paneer.

Tater Tots Chaat

Golden, crispy tater tots layered with vibrant chutneys, tangy yogurt, onions, and a dusting of masala — a playful fusion of American comfort and Indian street-style flair.

Open Cocktail Chutney Sandwich

Delicately cut cocktail rounds of soft white bread, spread with fresh coriander-mint chutney, and topped with crisp cucumber slices — simple, elegant, and refreshingly nostalgic.

Keema Frito Pie

A vibrant mash-up of Indian street spice and Tex-Mex comfort: tender beef keema, simmered in a fragrant blend of onions, tomatoes, and warming spices, is spooned over a bed of crushed Kurkure—India’s beloved crunchy snack of twisted cornmeal and rice puffs seasoned with a chatpata masala kick.

Mango Mousse

A silky smooth mousse made with ripe Alphonso mangoes, whipped cream, and a hint of saffron — light, luscious, and the perfect sweet finish to this flavorful journey.
