2021 Reserve Picardan

Picardan is pale straw in color and has aromas of green apple, pear and lemongrass. It is one of the rarest varietals in the world and was at risk of going extinct, until recently when Steve Newsom became one of the largest growers of Picardan in the world. In France, this varietal was used as a blending grape but, Texas grape grower, Steve Newsom, saw its potential and took a risk in 2017. He planted 4 acres of Picardan. He felt the Texas High Plains had the perfect climate to grow this varietal. It turns out he was correct. Our customers love this light bodied varietal that has flavors of apricot, peach and nectarine. International and national judges agree that Picardan is special and we have the medals to prove how good it is.
