Sure, you could sneakily steal your kids’ candy and eat it all by yourself, but wouldn’t that indulgence taste better with a nice, glass of English Newsom Cellars wine? Surprisingly, junk food like Halloween candy can (and should!) be paired with wine.

2019 Roussanne & Candy Corn

No Halloween night is complete without a handful of Candy Corn. This treat is unique for its sweet, buttery taste and waxy texture. We can think of no better pairing than our complex, medium-bodied Roussanne. Bright Meyer lemon, stone fruits, and brioche will soften the pure sugar flavors while the hints of honeysuckle will complement the classic candy.  If a chilled glass of Roussanne is your go-to, then track down some candy corn this year and try this fun pairing!


2021 Dry Riesling & Skittles

Life is always juicy when you’ve got a pack of Skittles, and even more so when you have a bottle of Dry Riesling to go with it. This aromatic German varietal offers tasting notes of orchard fruits like nectarine, apricot, honey-crisp apple, and pear. These vibrant notes will happily pair with every Skittles Flavor, leaving you to enjoy fruity flavors with every bite and sip. Don’t forget it’s fall and not summer! 2018 Sangiovese & Hershey’s Milk Chocolate

Hershey’s might be a no-frills candy, but who can resist the sweet milk chocolate melting in your mouth? The warm aromatics of Sangiovese fill your nose with hints of red plum and fig. The fruit forward sensations of the wine bring a balance to this devious pairing. A smooth finish is filled with mixtures of leather and smoke, leaving you to imagine the taste of chocolate covered berries in every sip!


2019 Cabernet Sauvignon & Reese’s

We crave Reese’s like vampires crave blood. The sugar from the chocolate and the saltiness from the peanut butter, a combination so good, it’s almost impossible to beat, until now. Our Cabernet Sauvignon brings dark red and black fruit flavors to compliment the creamy chocolate layer. The rich and velvety tannins bring a balance to the nuttiness of the peanut butter. You’ve been warned! This pairing is dangerously delicious.


2021 Flirt Sweet Red & Almond Joy

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t! Almond Joy is a unique treat with sweet coconut and whole almonds covered in smooth chocolate candy. Such an exceptional candy deserves an equally exceptional wine. Our Flirt Sweet Red offers aromas of plum, black cherry, and blackberry, to create an elegant bouquet of smells. Dark and juicy stewed fruit flavors combined with layers of coconut and almond, it’s better than paradise! But be careful, these sensations are likely to linger and could haunt your ride home!
